Gone are the days that you donned your leopardskin all-in-one, waxed up your curly moustache and proceeded to lift a black iron dumbell for half an hour. Now science and long years of research have shown us the way to quicker, safer fitness.
Whether or not you see keeping fit as an opportunity to impress the opposite sex, having good equipment is a no-brainer.
Often overlooked is the importance of having the best gym bag.
- A Water Bottle. You need to be hydrated to work out properly. Get portable water. Interrupting your workout to get to a water fountain is a pain and it stops the flow of your breathing and muscles. Besides fountains aren’t always germ free.
- Towels. Nobody likes that person who doesn’t wipe down a machine after them. You’ll also need something to dry yourself with when you have a shower, which is recommended not only to keep clean but to relax your muscles.
- An Exercise Heart Rate Monitor. So you can track your heart rate to make sure your workout is as efficient as you can make it.
- Footwear. You should always have spare shoes. To prevent smelly feet and shoes, to lengthen the life of the shoes and specialised shoes for different activities can increase your efficiency.
- Laundry Bag. Making sure that you have somewhere to put sweaty clothing.
- Flip Flops. Helps keep your feet healthy when heading for a swim or to the shower.
- Fuel. Something to give you more energy. An isotonic drink maybe.
- Deodorant. You don’t wanna smell bad do you?
- Music Player. Keep yourself from getting bored, listen to some fast music to keep the heart pumping.
- A Workout Journal. Keep track of your progress. Setting goals and monitoring them really helps.
There may be other items in your top 10 gym bag essentials. Possibly razor blades so you can get in everyone’s way while shaving in the locker room. Whatever you do, run a quick check before you leave the house.
